OPPORTUNITIES FOR REGIONAL CREATIVES TO DESIGN AND/OR FABRICATE SITE FURNITURE FOR THE PLAZA AT HAZELWOOD GREEN
Join us at the new PG&H Store and Showroom in Downtown Pittsburgh to explore an exciting new opportunity at the Hazelwood Green development site. The Office of Public Art (OPA) and Monmade are working together to help regional creatives participate in and benefit from one of the region’s most important new developments, Hazelwood Green.
Monmade and OPA have been asked by Almono LLC, the general partner of Almono LP (the primary land owners of the Hazelwood Green site), to identify a pre-qualified pool of artists, craftspeople, and fabricators to design and/or fabricate site furnishings in a new public open space, the Plaza.
The two-acre Plaza site is being designed by landscape architects Gustafson Guthrie Nicholl (GGN) of Seattle, Washington. The owners and design team are interested in working with regional creatives to develop a palette of custom designed elements – including benches, paving, waste receptacles, bollards, bike racks, tree grates, and lighting – that can be incorporated into the site. The selected creatives will work in collaboration with the staff of OPA, Monmade, GGN, and Almono LLC.
Review and Complete Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
At MM#13, Monmade producers and artists from the Pittsburgh Artist Registry are invited to hear more about the opportunity and ask any questions they might have about aspects and phases of this significant opportunity. Listed in the RFQ, OPA and Monmade team members will be available for questions independently.

Monmade is a trade group of regional craft businesses, maker enterprises, design/build shops, and entrepreneurial artists. These producers use traditional handwork processes and manufacturing technologies to transform raw and reclaimed materials into products that have utility, durability, and good design. Monmade provides producers with better access to elements of business success: markets, capital, workforce, space, guidance, and peers. When producers access resources and opportunity, their growth expands and diversifies the regional economy. They create jobs, reactivate industrial spaces, revitalize main streets, and enhance Pittsburgh’s national reputation as a dynamic, 21st-century city.
